Land Permissions

Land permissions are a key feature of the VitalCraft Claim System, allowing players to control what others can and cannot do on their claimed lands and subareas. These permissions help maintain a safe and organized environment, preventing griefing, ensuring fair gameplay, and giving you complete control over your space.

Types of Permissions

Permissions are divided into global permissions (for your entire claim) and specific permissions (for subareas). These permissions control various actions such as building, interacting with containers, and PvP.

Here are the most common types of permissions available:

  1. Build Permissions:

    • Allow Building: Allows players to place blocks within the land or subarea.

    • Deny Building: Prevents players from placing blocks.

  2. Break Permissions:

    • Allow Breaking Blocks: Allows players to break blocks within the land or subarea.

    • Deny Breaking Blocks: Prevents players from breaking any blocks.

  3. Container Access:

    • Allow Chest Access: Allows players to open and interact with containers like chests, barrels, and furnaces.

    • Deny Chest Access: Prevents players from opening or interacting with containers.

  4. PvP Permissions:

    • Allow PvP: Allows players to engage in PvP within the land or subarea.

    • Deny PvP: Prevents players from engaging in PvP within the land or subarea.

  5. Chest Protection:

    • Allow Item Dropping: Controls whether players can drop items on the ground.

    • Deny Item Dropping: Prevents players from dropping items.

  6. Mob Spawning:

    • Allow Mob Spawning: Permits mobs to spawn within the land or subarea.

    • Deny Mob Spawning: Disables mobs from spawning.

  7. Redstone and Interactions:

    • Allow Redstone: Permits players to use redstone mechanisms.

    • Deny Redstone: Prevents players from interacting with redstone mechanisms.

  8. Minecart and Vehicle Use:

    • Allow Minecart Use: Lets players ride minecarts within the land.

    • Deny Minecart Use: Prevents the use of minecarts or other vehicles.

Assigning Permissions to Players

Permissions are primarily assigned to individual players or groups (such as members or roles within your land) by using commands within the VitalCraft Claim System.

  1. Using /lands trust [player]:

    • This command grants a player permission to build, break blocks, and interact with containers within your land. By default, a player who is trusted can perform all actions in the land.

  2. Using /lands untrust [player]:

    • This command revokes a player’s permissions to your land, preventing them from interacting with anything.

  3. Managing Subarea Permissions:

    • Subareas allow you to assign different permissions to specific regions within your land. This is useful if you want to give special permissions in one area (e.g., a guest area or farm) while restricting access in other areas (e.g., your main base).

  4. Roles:

    • You can assign roles to players, such as owner, member, or guest. Each role can have different permissions, and you can adjust permissions for each role individually.

  5. Using /lands menu:

    • The full permissions and role management for your land and subareas can be accessed through the /lands menu. In this menu, you can:

      • Set who can build, break blocks, and open containers.

      • Grant or deny permissions for PvP and mob spawning.

      • Adjust settings for redstone use and other interactions within your land or subareas.

How to Set Permissions for a Subarea

Once you've created a subarea within your land, you can manage its permissions separately from the rest of your land. This is useful if you want to create dedicated spaces for PvP, farming, or public areas. You can adjust permissions for each subarea with the following steps:

  1. Access the Subarea Permissions Menu:

    • Open the Lands Menu with /lands menu, navigate to the Subareas tab, and select the subarea you want to manage.

  2. Adjust Specific Permissions:

    • You can set permissions within each subarea individually. This includes building, breaking blocks, PvP, container access, and more. For example, you might have a PvP subarea where building and breaking blocks is allowed, but PvP is also enabled, while other areas of your land prevent PvP and building.

Setting Up Permission Groups

To make managing permissions easier, you can create and assign permission groups (such as Admin, Member, Guest, etc.) within your land. These groups will define what actions each member can take on your land.

  • Admin: Full permissions, including building, breaking, and controlling redstone.

  • Member: Basic permissions, such as building and breaking in designated areas, but not access to redstone or special containers.

  • Guest: Only view or interact with non-privileged areas, like chests or farms, with limited permissions.

Using Flags for Additional Control

The VitalCraft Claim System offers "flags" for additional control over specific behaviors within your land. These flags allow you to fine-tune the permissions for certain actions or behaviors without needing to manage them directly in the main settings.

  • PvP Flag: Toggle PvP on or off in your land or specific subareas.

  • Fire Spread Flag: Control whether fire can spread across your land.

  • Explosion Flag: Set whether explosions are allowed in your land or subareas.

Important Notes:

  • Permissions apply to both global land and subareas: You can manage permissions at both the global (whole land) level and subarea level for finer control.

  • Role-based permissions: Using roles within your land allows you to easily manage and adjust access without having to set permissions individually for each player.
